ScoreSpace Jam #27 Sept 2023

The 9th jam I've participated in! We built an arcade style game themed around "Cats with Guns". I designed most of the art including the cover, background, and character art. I also helped with overall game design, plus balancing.

Our submission won 1st place! I'm also incredibly proud of getting #1 in Aesthetics category as well.

Untitled Mobile Game

Grappling Prototype

Grappling Mechanics Summer 2023

An in-progress prototype of grappling mechanics built in the Unity Engine. Implemented with a finite state machine, the user can jump and grapple from the same input which changes based on the current state.

Initially inspired by the mobile game Downwell!

HedgeJam #3 Oct 2022

A game built in Godot 3 and GDScript for HedgeJam #3, a jam hosted by yours truly! Implemented standard player controls and basic dash, as well as designed the phonebooth mimic monsters in Aesprite! A short and sweet project.

Gear Game

Gear Game

UW-Madison 2021 Winter Break Jam

A 2D platformer built over winter break for the Game Development and Design Club at UW-Madison. Inspired by Celeste and Spelunky, we created a procedurally generated tower and implemented platforming mechanics to collect gear coins around the level. Coded a 6 frame run acceleration (similar to Celeste) for player movement, as well as grab, wall jump, and wall-climbing mechanics.

This game was also built in Godot with GDScript

"Bullet Hell" 2021 Jam

A bullet hell game built in Godot and GDScript. Designed and coded bullet system, as well as designed bullet patterns for levels 2 and 5. Contributed to overall game design.

Godot's modular design made it a breath of fresh air to work with compared to GameMakerStudio 2. It was easier to collaborate code and build the necessary systems using Godot's design princples.

Roll of Fate

"Finally Finish Something" 2021 Jam

A dice RPG game built in GameMakerStudio 2, in collaboration with an artist and another programmer/musician. Coded the dialogue battle system in the spirit of Undertale, while also implementing the dice lock mechanic and DDR dice shaking. Wrote overall story and dialogue, and learned valuable skills beyond programming such as teamwork, communication, design, and player feedback (they tend be more forgiving if the story is engaging!).

Overall ranked #33.
